For the Sodexo Australia 2026 Excellence Awards at Crown Perth, Chameleon Sand Candle designed and delivered a large-scale candlelight experience for 368 guests.
The Brief
The Brief
The event theme was “A Night to Shine” - a celebration of collective achievement, expressed through music, lighting and atmosphere. Our role was to translate that idea into candlelight at scale.
Sodexo wanted long lines of white candles flowing across the room.
The design needed to feel abundant, refined and emotionally charged - without interrupting table service, guest conversation or the formal awards experience.
The Challenge
The event was held across Crown Perth’s combined Ballrooms 1 and 2, with 23 banquet tables arranged throughout the space. The challenge was not simply placing candles on tables. It was making 23 separate tables read as one cohesive visual statement. Every line, gap, height and cluster had to feel intentional. From any angle in the room, the candlelight needed to hold its rhythm.
The Chameleon Response
Chameleon created a five-tier candlelight composition using 1,200+ white, fragrance-free, plant-based sand candles.
Every vessel was prepared by hand before the event, then installed on-site using custom table plans, placement guides and a final room audit before guest arrival.
Because Chameleon manufactures its own candles in-house, the entire process was controlled from production through to installation - allowing consistency, scale and precision to work together.
The Result
As the room lights lowered and the Perth Symphony Orchestra began to play, the ballroom shifted.
What could have been 23 individual tables became one immersive corridor of flame - warm, architectural and ceremonial.
The installation gave the room a centre of gravity. It softened the scale of the ballroom, elevated the awards experience, and turned Sodexo’s theme into something guests could see and feel.
