Every Chameleon shoot starts with the same spark: "Let's create something that feels unforgettable."

But behind Cloud Dancer's soft white calm was a 12-hour day, a scissor lift, 200 candles that quietly changed the laws of physics, and 4 very determined fog machines.

This concept didn't start with Pantone. It started almost 12 months earlier, in Triin-Liis's head, with a single image: a dancer, moving through hundreds of candles.

When Pantone announced Cloud Dancer as its 2026 Colour of the Year, the idea finally had its shape.

From there, the brief was simple to say and hard to execute: a small, exceptional group of creatives, each element given room to matter. Nothing random. Nothing extra. Nothing disappearing into the noise — the way it so often does in styled shoots. Then came the site visit.

And the realisation of just how big "big" actually is.

 "We did a site visit and then realised how huge the area is, and how we needed to approach the draping and candles and everything in between. We were joking that it was going to be freezing and we'd need to wear layers - and Josh from Prescription Entertainment, who was doing our fog, said no, no, the colder the better for the fog."

On the actual day? Blue skies. Sunshine. Warm enough that 200 candles started heating the room from the inside — and the fog, true to form, had other plans.

Because nothing about a shoot this size runs in a straight line, it ran in a sequence:
The scissor lift had to arrive first. Then the draping went up. The piano had to be placed before a single candle could go down. The mirror plinths and florals had to be built before the candles could go in around them.

Every element depended on the one before it. Move it out of order, and the whole day falls over.

The one thing we didn't have to worry about? Our dancer knocking anything over. A professional ballerina moving through a field of open flame sounds like a risk assessment nightmare - until you watch her do it.
Ethereal, weightless, precise. She didn't dance around the candles. She danced with them.

And the crew - a small army of dress maker, florists, photographer, a videographer, a content creator, a musician, a special effects specialist, hair and makeup artists, models and candle wranglers — brought their whole selves to it.

Big personalities. Genuine care. The kind of energy that makes a 12-hour day feel shorter than it was.

Doors opened at 10am. Doors locked at 10:30pm. Twelve hours on site. Not one complaint. Not one whinge. Just a lot of very good laughs.

Cloud Dancer will make its mark in styled shoot history. But for the people who spent 12 hours building a field of candlelight beneath cloud — it left something more than a photograph.
